The foot, the infection, the system, and the people who carried me.
People remember the dramatic moments. The diagnosis. The surgery. The words nobody wants to hear. MRSA.
What I remember is my foot.
Carried is the story of a devastating foot infection and the long road that followed — hospitals and waiting rooms, surgeries and setbacks, fear and uncertainty. It is a story about dependence, about navigating a healthcare system that can feel overwhelming when you are at your weakest, and about the people who appeared when you needed them most.
Most of all, it is a story about being carried. Sometimes by medicine. Sometimes by determination. And often by people.
